There's a new Sheriff in town.
Lee, Sarah's mom, is visiting for the weekend and she's really helped us figure out some scheduling. I think we've been giving Lucy a lot of waking time and perhaps not quite enough sleeping during the day. Also, her feeding has been pretty often, sometimes every hour. All of this leads to Lucy being kinda fussy which often culminates in a dinnertime meltdown. Charming!
Lucy's still a little young to be on a rigid schedule, but It Has Begun. We're going to try to feed her on the threes: Noon, Three O'Clock, Six O'Clock and so on. After eating is playing and hanging out, followed by a nap which brings her to her next meal. The ultimate goal is two-fold; get ahead of her fussiness, (making Lucy generally happier) and eliminating the three a.m. feeding (making Momma and Poppa generally happier).
WARNING: This is too cute.
We took Lucy & Annie to the Studio City Farmer's Market, where they feature pony rides for kids. While waiting in line for her ride, I interviewed Annie.
We returned to the scene of the crime.
Chris, Lucy and I went back to the LA zoo today with Matt, Kelly and Annie. Lucy fared much better stopping only for a meal or two and then a small meltdown at the end of the day. Success! Here is a picture of her being calm, cool and collected.
Well, it's getting better.
After several conversations with kindly Dr. Shapiro (who is sometimes referred to as "Dr. Dreamy"), it looks like Lucy has some acid reflux going on. She's been increasingly fussy during feedings, they found a small amount of blood in her poop, and she's been out of sorts for a little while now. Sarah's been put on a restrictive diet to help determine if it's the breast milk that's causing the sensitivity.
If that isn't it, not sure what our next move is. Whatever happens, I'm confident that it'll all work out and, years from now, we'll remember when Lucy was almost two months old and how there was this thing with the doctor....
We're excited that my brother Matt, his wife Kelly, and their three-year-old daughter Annie are visiting for the weekend. Annie's birthday is just around the corner and, according to the word on the street, there may be a special visit to the Zoo lined up for the birthday girl. We shall see.
Will we sleep tonight?
It has been a tough couple of days for us here in Tallman-town. Lucy is going through a growth spurt which has her up at all hours and crying more than usual. A lot more than usual. But for me, seeing Lucy's little face peering over Chris' shoulder while he calms her down (he can always calm her down because he's magical like that), is all I need. Tomorrow is a new day! A new day with Lucy's 2 month check-up. Stay tuned.
